Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday and thanked him for his liberal support to Jammu and Kashmir to uplift the fortunes of the people of the Union territory who had reeled from neglect for decades.


During the meeting , the sources said that the LG gave a detailed account of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir where the people were shifting to the constructive activities , especially as they have discovered that the governance system is responsive and accountable. The people have benefited from the central schemes launched in J&K and they have shown keen interest in participation in the activities enabling them to build new future, full of opportunities without any fear.


Sinha also reflected that how tens of thousands of tourists have come to the Valley in the recent months which has resulted in offering jobs and positivity in the atmosphere. The new industrial policy and the infrastructure development have opened new opportunities.


The details of the security forces’ successful anti-terrorism operations , too, had contributed significantly in improving the atmosphere. There were attempts by Pakistan to create problems in the union territory but the people were aware that Pakistan was playing mischief in Kashmir.


Prime Minister has always shown his interest in Jammu and Kashmir . It was due to him that that grassroots democracy has taken a firm shape in Kashmir where the people have tasted the fruits of the panchayati raj institutions.


Earlier, during the day Home Minister Amit Shah had chaired a high-level meet on security and development affairs of Jammu and Kashmir and complimented the UT administration for working to fulfill the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of J&K.
