Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha who also is chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine  Board  will be performing “ Pratham pooja” or first prayers at the cave shrine of Amarnath in Himalayas on June 28 , according to sources in the shrine board.

Despite the cancellation of the Amarnath yatra  2021 , a decision   in this regard was  announced on Monday,  keeping in view the threat and dangers of the pandemic, the traditional religious rituals would be performed as per schedule with strict adherence of the Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

L G Sinha  in his capacity as Chairman of the SASB will perform the “ Pratham puja” that is  a scheduled  event and also the auspicious occasion marking the start of  the now cancelled yatra.  This is a major event on the calendar of the annual Amarnath yatra and SASB chairman leads the prayers on the first day of the start of the yatra.

All arrangements are in place for the “ Pratham pooja”, sources said.

Yesterday while announcing the decision to cancel the yatra, the Lieutenant Governor had ensured that all the religious rituals associated with the  yatra would be performed with stand operating procedures needed in the pandemic times .

Last year also, his predecessor G C Murmu had performed “ Pratham Pooja” , though the yatra was cancelled because of the pandemic .
