JAMMU, JULY 07, 2023: – The Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today demanded holding of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir without further delay to restore lost faith of the people in the incompetent administration.
The delay in holding assembly elections has further widened the gap between the general masses and the administration for the last several years and that needs to be addressed by the Govt, he said.
He said that there is disappointment among the people because of incompetent administration which has failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
The former minister was addressing a joining programme cum meeting which was organized here by State President OBC Wing, Bhagat Ram, State President SC Wing, Bodh Raj Bhagat.
In this joining programme, prominent businessman Rakesh Gupta, prominent BSP leader Kanwarjit Singh and Chartered Accountant, Gulshan Anand alongwith hundreds of supporters joined Apni Party in presence of Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh and other leaders.
Welcoming them into the party fold, the former minister hoped that their joining would help the party to strengthen on the ground.
He said that it is because of the policy and agenda of Apni Party that businessmen and prominent people are joining the Party posing their faith in the policy and agenda of the party.
In his address, he said that the public outreach campaign has benefited the party to gain roots at the ground level especially in the strong forts of the traditional political parties in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Udhampur.
“The people have witnessed the traditional political parties which exploited them as vote banks and did nothing for them. In the last seven decades, attempts were made by these traditional political parties to create division in two regions to gain political benefits. However, the Apni Party has worked on the ground to promote brotherhood, understanding among the people, and encouraged unity in two regions which has brought the people of two regions close to each other,” he said.
He said that this was possible because of the public outreach programmes, policy and agenda of Apni Party and its President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari Sahab who has received overwhelming response from all the sections of society.
“The Apni Party has emerged as an option for the people to elect dynamic leaders who can work for them, and they can be held accountable. This can be possible if elections are held in J&K,” he said.
He further stated that “The people are unhappy with the administration with many issues that remain unaddressed. The feeling of alienation among the people has grown because of the absence of an elected Govt in J&K. If elections are held and the elected Govt takes over the Govt, the lost faith of the people can be restored.”
He said that in soaring temperatures, it was expected from the PDD to supply round the clock electricity and accordingly, they installed meters promising that the electricity will be provided without cuts.
However, the situation is worse in the city as well as in rural areas with hours of electricity cuts which has also adversely affected the water supply system.
“The people are not only distressed because of unscheduled power cuts, but the huge electricity bills following the installation of pre-paid meters by the PDD has given sleepless nights to the people,” he said.
He said that the LG must intervene into the issue and grill the officials of PDD for their non-serious approach. “The electricity is not provided round the clock, yet the huge bills for the usage of electricity are being sent to the customers,” he alleged.
He demanded personal intervention of LG J&K and demanded reactivation of error in sending huge electricity bills to the electricity consumers.
