PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has hailed Indo- Pak ceasefire agreement of February 24-25 midnight
Welcoming it, she termed it as a big and
welcome development that India & Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC. “
She insisted and yet again reinvoked the spirit and vibrancy of dialogue by saying, “Dialogue is the only way forward if both countries want to stop the unending cycle of violence & bloodshed across the borders and J&K.”
She has been a strong votary of dialogue between India and Pakistan and especially as the ceasefire agreement came into being during Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Pakistan president Gen Musharraf’s time in November 2003 . At the time , her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, National Conference has also welcomed this Agreement.
It said : “We welcome it and hope that the statement will be followed in letter & spirit. JKNC has always been a strong supporter of the Ceasefire along the LoC. This will allow people living along the LoC & IB to go about their normal lives with minimal disruption & risk.”
