The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to recall 100 companies of paramilitary forces from Jammu and Kashmir in a first such step indicating that there is less requirement of the forces in the union territory in view of the improvement of the situation.
This decision was taken at a review meeting of the ministry of home affairs yesterday, the sources said.
Forty companies of CRPF , 20 companies each of BSF, ITBP and SSB will be withdrawn, the sources said.
The Government had sent these forces in July last year , days ahead of the revocation of the special status of J&K and its bifurcation into two Union Territories on August 5 .
