Udhampur , December 27: Acting on specific information, Army and J&K Police launched a search operation in General area Shergari Nala and recovered arms and ammunition from a hideout concealed in the rugged terrain along the Pir Panjal range. Trained sniffer dogs and metal detectors were also used in the operation. During the search and seek operations one Pistol, one AK-56 Rifle, one point 303 Rifle, one magazine Pistol, one magazine point 303 Rifle, four magazines AK-56, 81 rounds AK-56, two rounds RPG, one round Illumination, 67 rounds Pika Belted, 90 rounds point 303 Rifle, one round Pistol, 12 Kgs IED in two steel containers, two Chinese Grenade, one UBGL Grenade, one 36 Hand Grenade, 23 sticks Explosive, seven Batteries of IED and one Radio Set Kenwood with antenna were recovered from the spot.

The operation was launched jointly by the Army and J&K Police from Chasana P.S. after diligently developing the intelligence over a fortnight. The joint parties cordoned off the area and carried out a meticulous search during which they succeeded in locating the hideout of terrorists, which was used during peak of militancy for sustenance.

The security forces are continuing with their persistent operations to keep Jammu-Reasi-Rajouri region safe and sanitized from terrorists as well as their support infrastructure. The recovery of war like stores will deal a severe blow to the nefarious designs of terrorists to revive militancy in the area.
