Srinagar,Mar 28:
security forces and armed militants exchanged gunfire in Litter area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir in the small hours on Wednesday .
The exchange of fire took place when militants opened fire on forces when they were laying a cordon to trace the militants hiding in the area. The fire was returned.
But after a brief encounter , the militants managed to escape.
