Two men have been arrested for the gangrape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri district. The victim’s father alleged his daughter’s body was found with her eyes gouged out and tongue slit.

Lucknow, August 16:

Two men have been arrested in connection with the gangrape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district. The victim’s father said his daughter was strangled. He has also alleged that the girl’s body was found with her eyes gouged out and tongue slit.

The victim’s body was found in a sugarcane field reportedly owned by one of the accused after a brief search by her family. The police have arrested two men from the same village for their alleged involvement in the case. However, a relative of the girl has alleged that three people were involved in the crime.

The spine-chilling incident happened on Friday, in a village in Isanagar police station area, close to the Nepal border.

The victim had gone missing on Friday afternoon after she left her house in Pakariya village of Lakhimpur Kheri district around 1 pm. Her father said they went out looking for her when she did not return for a long time.

After a brief search, the girl’s body was found in a sugarcane field. Her father said the girl was strangled with a dupatta, her eyes were gouged out and her tongue was cut off. The girl’s post mortem has confirmed sexual assault.

Police have registered a case of murder and gangrape against the two accused. The two accused will also be charged under the National Security Act, Lakhimpur Kheri SP Satendra Kumar told India Today TV.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati condemned the Lakhimpur Kheri rape case on Twitter and attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh.

In a tweet, Mayawati said, “The rape of a Dalit minor in Pakariya village of Lakhimpur Kheri and her brutal killing is extremely sad and shameful. What is the difference between the SP and the present BJP government if these incidents keep happening? The government should take strict action against the culprits of Kheri along with Azamgarh.”

Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad also condemned the incident and alleged that Dalit oppression is at the peak in the BJP government. He also demanded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s resignation over the Lakhimpur Kheri gangrape and murder case.
