Srinagar, September 15, 2026: A One-Day Ulema Meet & Seerat Conference organised by the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema Jammu & Kashmir (MMU) began today in Srinagar under the chairmanship of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq.

The conference has brought together Ulema and representatives of various religious institutions from across Jammu & Kashmir to deliberate on the responsibilities of religious leadership in addressing contemporary moral and social challenges, particularly those facing the younger generation, including drug abuse, mental and emotional distress, misuse of social media, weakening family values and growing social alienation.

The deliberations are also focusing on strengthening sectarian harmony and enhancing the role of mosques as centres of guidance, counselling, youth engagement and community welfare.

The conference is expected to conclude with practical recommendations and a programme of sustained follow-up by the MMU.
