Says MTMP will pave way for greater development of urban areas

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan Monday said that the benefits of ‘My Town My Pride’ (MTMP) programme will percolate down to gross root level and pave way for greater development of urban areas.

The Advisor was addressing a public grievance cum introductory program at Town Hall Handwara held today as part of MTMP programme.

Visiting Officer, Director Panchayati Raj, Mohammad Rafi ; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir; President, Muncipal Committee, Handwara, Masroor Ahmad Banday; Nodal Officer B2V Mohammad Ishaq ,various district Officers; Municipal Councillors were present at the occasion.

The Advisor reiterated Government’s commitment to ensure equitable development of all rural as well as urban areas. He said the aim and objective of the MTMP vis a vis B2V is to reach out the public, ascertain their feedback and resolve issues of public importance. He said Lieutenant Governor himself , Advisors and Senior Officers are visiting different areas to ensure sense of participation among people.

On the occasion, the Advisor had separate meetings with Muncipal Councilors and different delegations including Traders Federation and Bar Association. The Advisor heard them patiently and assured them that their issues will be resolved in a time bound manner.

The Advisor distributed Golden Cards envisaged to provide health insurance cover of Rs 5 Lakh to the needy require medicare facility. He provided PMAY cheques and registration certificates of Urban Local Bodies among Street Vendors.He also distributed baby kits among 5 beneficiaries, gave certificates to 8 students for showing best performance in different activities, distributed domicile certificates among 6 beneficiaries.

The Advisor inspected stalls established by various departments including Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, skill Development, Social Welfare for creating awareness among general public.

During the proceedings of MTMP programme, 23 students from different schools of Handwara town organized a painting competition while as a cultural programme was also held on the occasion.

Later, the Advisor laid foundation stone of Shopping Complex, coming up at a cost of Rs 37.79 crore at New Bus Stand, Handwara. The shopping Complex, having target of 1800 shops, is being constructed by Municipal Committee, Handwara on self finance basis.
