Jammu, July 15, 2026: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), PIU-Udhampur, organised a plantation drive under the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign on the Chenani–Nashri Project stretch today. As part of the initiative, 250 saplings, comprising fruit-bearing, non-fruit-bearing and ornamental species, were planted across the project corridor to enhance the green cover and promote environmental sustainability.

The plantation drive was attended by the Project Director, NHAI PIU-Udhampur, Shri Ish Gupta, along with NHAI officials, project staff and workers. He participated in the plantation activity and distributed saplings among the workers, encouraging them to plant and nurture trees in the name of their mothers.
Speaking on the occasion, Project Director highlighted the importance of tree plantation in improving air quality, enhancing biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance. He stated that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign is a meaningful initiative that combines environmental conservation with the values of gratitude and respect for mothers.
He appealed to actively participate in the campaign by planting at least one tree in their mother’s name and taking responsibility for its care. He noted that collective efforts can significantly contribute to building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future.
The plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from NHAI officials, project staff and workers, reaffirming NHAI’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development and environmental stewardship.
