Srinagar, March 02 : The National Investigation Agency on Thursday morning seized the residential property of Mushtaq Zargar, designated terrorist , in downtown Srinagar . Zargar is in Pakistan , he was one of the three terrorists , who were handed over to the hijackers of Indian Airliner IC814 in Kandahar , Afghanistan , in December 31, 1999.
Zargar had founded Al-Umar Mujahadeen, one of the militant outfits, active in the capital city of Srinagar in 1990 . The police had arrested him in 1993 and his arrest had led to high-level of violence in the capital city that time.
The notice sealing, and placed on the three-storied building read, “ “ Notice of Attachment , This is to inform All the members of the public – the immovable property – house on land measuring 02 maralas falling under Khasra no 182 situated in Gani Mohalla , Jamia Masjid Nowhatta district, Srinagar, J&K, recorded as Aabida Ben under the ownership of Mushtaq Zargar @ Latram, designated individual terrorist UA(P)A stands attached . This was implementation of the order of the ministry of Home Affairs .
Mushtaq Zaragar also known as Mushtaq Latram . He was a copper smith by profession . But later he founded the militant outfit which, according to police , was responsible for several acts of terror . His name and acts would send chill down the spine of the people .
On Thursday morning , a posse of policemen led by NIA officials moved into Nowhatta area of Srinagar, and sealed the house of Mushtaq Zargar, originally belonging to his father . The neighbours said that the property belonged to Mushtaq’s father , and not built or constructed by Mushtaq.
It is for the first time that the NIA have taken action against such a high-profile designated terrorist, though it is in line with its ant-terror campaign, in which the properties of the terrorists and their aides have been sealed.
