The Supreme Court on Monday directs for the constitution of Special Committee which is to be set up immediately in order to look into the contentions of the Petitioners regarding restoration of 4G Services in the UT. Committee will be headed by MHA Secretary.

“Special Committee is directed to examine the contentions made by Petitioners, as well as the appropriateness of their contentions and the alternative remedy.” On this note, the petition has been disposed of.

“In Anuradha Bhasin, we said there should be adequate procedural safeguards. On the same note, constitute a committee of secretaries comprising Centre and States, Secy of MHA, Ministry of Communication and CS of J&K.”

This court has to ensure that national security and human rights are balanced. We do recognize that UT has plunged into crisis. At the same time court is cognizant to the concerns related to ongoing pandemic and hardships, Justice NV Ramana said.
