Srinagar, December 19

No objection has been filed by anyone, including the government departments, army and paramilitary forces  to clearance of compensation of Rs 4 lakh or a job to the member of the family of Khalid Muzaffar Wani , better known as  Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen Burhan Wani’s elder brother who was killed in Tral forests in April last year,

Official sources confirmed to  the J K News Today on Monday that the  deadline  of  one week of filing objections , if any , to the clearance of the  compensation  to Khalid  by the district screening committee , Pulwama , has passed . But no objections have been filed till days.

The deadline for filing the objections was Sunday. This has cleared decks for the release of compensation in favour of the next of kin of Khalid’s family  as nothing stands between the government’s decision and the family  that was in the headline for the second half of 2016. This  extraordinary exposure in the streets of Kashmir , local, national and international media was due to the killing of social  media icon of militancy Burhan Wani  in an encounter with   security forces on  July 8.

A notification of  District Administration , Pulwama published on December 12 had invited objections  to the clearance  of compensation and this had drawn attention of political parties and become a   political contest on the issue , whether terrorist’s family deserves compensation  or  should militants’ families be befriended by differentiating them from the terrorists.

BJP, an alliance partner of PDP in Jammu and Kashmir and opposition Congress party have opposed any move to give ex-gratia for Burhan Wani’s brother Khalid, who got killed in army action in Tral forest area.

The BJP MLA said, “Compensations are not given to terrorists and no BJP leader or minister has any knowledge of this ( giving ex-gratia for Khalid). We will oppose any move to give compensation to terrorists.”

Congress leader Vikram Malhotra opposition any move to give ex-gratia for Burhan’s brother questioned, “How come state BJP leaders are saying that they oppose the compensation while the Union Home Minister, one of the senior most leaders of BJP has sanctioned it.”

Panthers Party Chairman Harshdev Singh opposition the ex-gratia to Khalid had said,  “State government’s policy of appeasement towards the secessionists forces is reaching its peak.”
