Srinagar, May 26 Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has hailed the new Parliament building as a “ welcome addition”, and described it as “ pretty damn impressive “ without walking into the controversy as to who should be inaugurating it on May 28.
A lot of controversy is on across the country, created by opposition demanding that the new parliament building be inaugurated by President Draupadi Murmu . However , the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who represents 140 crore people of the country, BJP argued is best suited to do the ceremony.
Omar , who was three time MP and also minister of state for commerce and later external affairs , said in a tweet on Friday :” Setting aside the
brouhaha about the inauguration for a moment, this building is a welcome addition.”
“The old Parliament House has served us well but as someone who has worked there for a few years, a lot of us often spoke amongst ourselves about the need for a new & improved parliament building. “
“Better late than never is all I’ll say & this one looks pretty damn impressive,” Omar said.

It may be mentioned here that Omar’s party is part of the Opposition parties , staying away from the inauguration ceremony, insisting that president Murmu should be inaugurating it .
