Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kishtwar, Mohd. Hanief Malik today convened a meeting regarding establishment of One Stop Center (Sakhi) in district Kishtwar with an aim to safeguard the rights of women.

During the meeting, the threadbare discussion were held on the opening of Bank account of OSC, establishment and renovation of building for shelter of women were discussed.

On the occasion Dr. Japuka Madhavi, Senior Consultant Ministry of Women and Child Development,Govt. of India, Joint Director Planning Kishtwar Mohd Iqbal, Assistant Commissioner Development Kishtwar, Kishore Singh Katoch, District Social Welfare Officer Kishtwar Tariq Parvez Qazi, Child Development Project Officer Nisar Ahmed, Child Protection Officer (NIC) Touseef Iqbal Butt , Rakesh Kumar (Sakhi Doda Coordinator), Officers from Mahila Shakti Kendra Kishtwar and representative of JK bank and ICPS attended the meeting.

On the occasion, ADDC Kishtwar, Mohd. Hanief Malik in presence of Dr. Japuka Madhavi, Senior Consultant Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India, inaugurated One-Stop Center (Sakhi), an initiative of the
Ministry of Women and Child Development at office building of Integrated Child Protection Services Kishtwar.

Dr. Madhavi (Sr. Consultant) said that the facility is created to provide integrated services like medical, legal, psychosocial support and temporary shelter under one roof. Besides victims of domestic violence and other forms of crimes can take shelter here.

She said the Centre is set up through the Nirbhaya fund, under the National Commission for Empowerment of Women by Ministry of Women and Child Development.

“The 24-hour Sakhi centre here will function at the office building of Integrated Child Protection Services Kishtwar on temporary basis till its identified building will get renovate.” ADDC Kishtwar informed.

After the meeting, the proposed building for One stop center also inspected in which Additional Deputy Commsioner Kishtwar, Pawan Parihar who is also holding the charge of PO ICDS Kishtwar ensured that the administration would complete the renovation process on war footing.
