Ministry of Home Affairs headed by Amit Shah on Saturday declared abrogation of Article 370 in August last year as “ historic.”
In a bullet point note listing of achievements of the MHA in the past one year that also marks the completion of PM Modi’s one year in office of his second term, the abrogation of Article 370 figures on top of the list.
It reads that these were historic steps that brought J&K at par with other states and UTs of the country. This was a reference to the new sense of unity that came about with the removal of the Article 370 and Article 35 A that had created barriers and accorded special rights and privileges that were not available to the rest of the citizens of the country. This discrimination was brought to an end once and for all and the people of J&K and Ladakh got fully integrated with the rest of Indian nation.
