After JKNT reported the spike in COVID 19 cases in Kishtwar District, including in District Hospital Kishtwar where some Lab technicians, Health Inspector and a senior doctor tested positive in last few days, the Health authorities in the District has decided to shut the OPD at District Hospital Kishtwar for next 5 days.
As per the order issued by Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar Dr. Ravinder Singh Manas, in view of recent spike of COVOD 19 cases in District Kishtwar and detection of some cases among Health workers of District Hospital Kishtwar in perticular, OPD of District Hospital Kishtwar shall remain suspended till 5-9-2020.
As per the order, emergency section of the hospital will remain functional as per routine.
“No employee of the Hospital shall leave the station during this period without prior permission of the competent authority” read the order.
As per report with the surfacing of around 50 COVID positive cases in last 4/5 days in Kishtwar District including 9 of family members has send shocking wave among the people who are demanding immediate implementation of lockdown in Kishtwar District, particularly in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas.
Most among the fresh reported Positive cases has so far been reported from under construction Dam site of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool HEP at Dangdoru some 60 KM from Kishtwar which has become a hub of virus in the Kishtwar District.
As per the health officials, there are reports of community spread in Kishtwar and called for immediate measures to prevent the spread of deadly disease.
The employees working at District Hospital Kishtwar called for immediate shifting of COVID 19 testing from District Hospital Kishtwar main building to some other building so that normal patients and hospital staff could not become prone to the virus.
They also called for providing proper kits so that they could prevent themselves from falling prey to the virus.
“We have not been given rest from the duties since last six months — we are working tirelessly at the front of the pandemic” said an official wishing anonymity.
The local people called upon the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to impose strict possible lockdown without any fail.
Kishtwar District has so far reported about 270 positive cases till date with 185 recoveries and one death which is actually that of an elderly women, a resident of Gundow Sub Division in Doda District.
As per local officials Kishtwar District have 81 active positive cases however official figure released by the government shows active positive cases in Kishtwar are 76.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara today issued an order under section 144 Cr.Pc imposing blanket ban on movement of individuals for all non essential activities from 10 PM to 5 AM on all 7 days of the week.
