Pakistan is living in illusions is not something new, but what is new is the level of its denial of the stark realities vis-à-vis Kashmir. It refuses to accept that the people in Jammu and Kashmir have elected an Assembly representing a collective will and aspirations of all the people , and there is no scope of any ifs and buts on the issue. National Conference , the party that scored a decisive mandate, has formed the government which is inclusive of both the regions of the Kashmir Valley and Jammu. There are two ministers apart from Chief Minister from the Valley – in fact chief minister is for the whole of J&K , not just belong to one particular region. Omar Abdullah won from two constituencies that he contested from the Valley. There are three ministers , including Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary , from Jammu region. Then there is an opposition party – BJP that won on 29 seats from Jammu region . The BJP has suffered an initial loss as one of its MLAs Devender Singh Rana breathed his last three days before the commencement of the Assembly session in Srinagar on November 4.

This is the reality. But Pakistan , as is its habit , will not accept it. Its army chief Gen. Syed Asim Munir, who, in fact, is the de-facto ruler of his country – the political set up is just a puppet in the hands of Army, has raised a new bogey- comparing Kashmir with Gaza. Pakistan had been using this imaginative theory for long, but now at this stage it is playing a far bigger mischief than before

Pakistani media quoting Gen. Asim Munir’s address at the 28th annual conference International Association of Peace-Keeping Training Centers , in Islamabad as saying that “the world powers should take immediate action regarding the humanitarian crises in Kashmir and Palestine”.

Gen. Munir said that despite numerous peacekeeping efforts by the United Nations and others , the Palestinians and Kashmir crises continue to foster. He was implying that the two situations are same , hence called for international intervention. This was deeply disturbing and deliberate distortion of the facts on the ground. Of all the people , Gen. Munir himself knew that what he was saying was untrue because there is nothing close to reality as far as Kashmir is concerned.

There have been mischievous interpretations in Pakistani media as well . While listing that more than 43,000 people have died in Israeli assault on Palestinians since October last year , these reports have tried to focus on the recent incidents of violence ( they are hesitant to call these as acts of terror) after the formation of the government . Can anyone in his /her senses describe the shooting down of construction workers , including doctors and Sunday market shoppers as humanitarian crisis . These are acts of terror, which simply notify the evil intentions of the perpetrators of these crimes against humanity and their backers sitting in Pakistan . Yes , these terror attacks on civilians create crisis for the government in J&K as it is assigned with the task to protect and care for their citizens. The humanitarian crisis has been created by Pakistani-trained and equipped terrorists.
