Seeks assembly elections in J&K, restore Statehood

Dozens of NC, Congress Party, BJP leaders and workers join Apni Party

Rajouri, August 29:

Apni Party Vice President, and Former Minister, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali urged upon the Govt of India to demand the holding of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a public meeting at Jamola village in Budhal constituency of District Rajouri, he appealed to the Govt of India that the problems of the people have increased manifolds due to the absence of an elected Govt in the erstwhile State of J&K.

“The people have no access to the bureaucracy and the bureaucracy is not in contact with the common masses. During the four and half years of the Lt Governor’s rule in J&K, the gap between the people and the administration has widened many folds besides rampant corruption in most of the areas,” he said.

He further said that “We being the part of the largest democracy in the world, it’s a blot that the people of this region are being deprived of an elected Govt of people’s choice and the people have lost their confidence in the Govt due to the arrogance of the bureaucracy.”

“The people have to face problems even pitty matter like disruption in the water supply and it takes couple of weeks / months for reinstallation of the transformers after it repair work or installation,” he said and recalled how the road connectivity got disrupted during the heavy rains in the recent monsoon for weeks together and people have suffered a lot.

He further said that the flagship programmes like Jal Jeevan Mission are properly launched on the ground and the genuine beneficiaries are not getting the benefit of the national flagship programmes.

“Still, the people have to travel for several kilometers to fetch the drinking pot and the suffering of the people have doubled in these years due to the absence of an elected Govt as babus are not accountable to the Govt,” he said.

He said that “Other major flagship programmes like housing for all, under Prime Minister Avash Yojna the genuine beneficiaries are being deprived and they are not being provided the assistance as the rightful beneficiaries as provided in the norms of the scheme. The people are crying for their wages under MGNREGA programmes and even for the material component has also not been released in favour of the poor people in remote areas of the district.”

He further stressed upon the Govt that the major development projects in the region viz Anas irrigation canal, Govt Degree College Kotranka, Kotranka – Khawas Road, Budhal – Shopian Road, Hubbi – Bagyalkot road, many eco-tourism and amusement parks in Kotranka, Gujjar Hostel Kotranka and many other projects are incomplete from last several years.

Therefore, he urged upon the LG administration to kindly gear up the pending developmental works and to complete them in a proper time frame for the facility of the general masses in the area.

He said that the people connected with the cattle rearing are facing lots of problems due to the spread of lumpy skin disease and their only source of income i.e., their cattles are perished, dead and suffering due to absence of medical treatment, medicines and proper treatment to cure the deadly infection in the cattles.

He also highlighted the issue of lack of medical staff to provide medicines and medical care to the infected cattles in the remote areas of the District Rajouri.

“Initially we had already demanded that a task force should be constituted at district. However, we welcome the Govt for constituting task force teams in J&K for monitoring the spread and curing the infected cattles at district and provincial level. Despite that the areas in Rajouri-Poonch and other remote areas are facing the same problems till date. In fact, no medical team has reached in areas like Geri, Bela, Panglar, Jamola, Kha, Kanthol, Maruta, and Budhal areas.

He stressed upon the LG administration to kindly depute the medical teams and provide vaccination to the infected cattles in the areas. He also urged upon the administration to restore the internal connectivity roads which are damaged or blocked due to the recent heavy rains.

He also appealed to the administration to make connections with the common masses as the people are facing many problems and they need immediate redressal.

He also urged upon the people to extend their support to us to make Jammu and Kashmir a vibrant and a developed state as the people of the areas are facing manifold problems in the state and the region and it requires a consistent approach and commitment for its overall development.

In this public meeting, dozens of National Conference, PDP and BJP leaders and workers joined the Apni Party in presence of the senior party leaders.

In this meeting, besides District President Rajouri, Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah Bukhari, Party’s senior leader, Fazal Hussain Chauhan, Block President, Choudhary Mir Hussain, Block President Raja Mohammed Aslam Khan, Block President Thakur Balwant Singh, Sarpanch Dilpazir, Mohammed Yousif, Anwar Shah, Charan Singh, Gulzar Narma, Showkat Ali, Abdul Majid, Gardari Lal, Sachin Singh, Sain Khan, Salam Din, and other prominent people also spoke on the occasion.
