After a number of stringent actions to streamline disorder the Inspector General of Police Traffic, Jammu and Kashmir, Basant Rath has written to Deputy Commissioner Jammu to cancel the permission of marriage banquet halls which do not “guarantee enough Parking space.”
Rath has shot letter to the Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Commissioner Jammu Municipality stating , ” It has been observed that most of the marriage banquet halls have been permitted to operate without giving the guarantee of enough parking space.”
The letter further says that “their (banquet halls’) license/permission may kindly be cancelled under appropriate section of law.”
The city witnesses heavy traffic hold ups during marriage seasons due to lack of proper parking space at the banquet halls.
The IG traffic has gained popularity for acting against violators to bring semblance of order in the unruly traffic scene.
