Jammu, January 4 In less than two days after the civilian killings in twin terror attacks in Dangri village in Rajouri district , more than 2,000 additional troopers are arriving in Jammu and Kashmir to launch a massive and intensified drive against militants in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
The necessity for additional troopers was felt as the security forces already deployed in J&K are overstretched , and the people in Rajouri had complained that there were not adequate . The location of the villages , separated from the district headquarters, were feeling insecure as they were not under the adequate protective cover.
Sources said that additional companies have been rushed to J&K to tighten the noose around terrorists , who, of late have become active in parts of Jammu region .
. The immediate task before the forces , sources told JK News Today, is manifold to enable the army to spare more troops for guarding the borders to reduce or eliminate chances of infiltration from across the Line of Control that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
Rajouri and Poonch districts sit along the LoC. They have witnessed infiltration of terrorists, their arms and others from across the LoC . The recent incident in Dangri village , where six persons, including two girls were killed .
On the evening of January 1 , terrorists had shot dead four persons and injured six others . Next morning two girls were killed and several others injured in an IED explosion . The IED was placed by the terrorists to target the senior officers who were scheduled to visit carnage site . But before that , it exploded, resulting in the death of two cousins and injury to several others.
The deployment of CRPF is owing to two reasons- CRPF has been playing active role since the eruption of militancy . They have been trained for the counter-terrorism operations. That adds to their utility in such a challenging situation .
