Jammu, March 9: On the pattern of attaching properties of people involved in militancy, the government is all ready to apply the similar formula to deal with drug menace.

The big sharks involved in illegal drug trade and narco-terrorism will be facing the ire and their properties will be attached accordingly.

As far as peddlers are concerned, habitual offenders will be booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA). Already many such offenders have been booked under PSA and cases have been registered against first time offenders at many places.

“Any peddler against whom two or more cases have been registered will be booked under PSA and there will be no relaxation to them. Anyone who has been booked once and has been released on bail by the court are being kept under surveillance,” a police officer told JK News Today.

Moreover, for the past two months, district magistrates of every district of Jammu and Kashmir have chaired special meetings to review the control measures initiated against drug abuse in the district.

They said ways to effectively tackle the drug problem have already been discussed and now the orders and directions passed in those meetings will be strictly implemented on the ground. One of the measures to control the drug menace is to attach the properties of notorious drug peddlers and narco-dealers. The habitual offenders will face the music and likely be booked under the stringent Public Safety Act.

“There will be anti-drug squads in plain clothes outside educational institutions keeping a strict vigil on the activities of the suspects. Besides Drug Control Department will conduct random inspections and suspend licenses of medical shops for rule violations.”

Drug addicts are already been treated and rehabilitated in order to save their families and society from ruin.
