In a continued effort to digitize its office working, Govt of Jammu & Kashmir has transformed their manual filling system into digital one through e-office with support from RailTel, a Miniratna PSU under Ministry of Railways. RailTel has provided Manpower, User Training Support and Disaster Recovery (DR) for this mammoth project of J&K Govt. to migrate the entire filling system into a digital platform.

RailTel, with its rich experience of implementing e-office for the largest employer of country- Indian Railways, has provided extensive training to officials of J&K Govt. to handle and effectively use the e-Office platform. This has helped the officials to understand the nitty gritty of the cloud-based e-Office platform, tremendously. RailTel has also deputed 20 designated E-Office Resources (Trainers) to support the Govt. officials for day to day hand holding in using the e-Office application. RailTel UPTIME USA certified Tier III Data Center is also being used for Disaster Recovery (DR) for the digital files being created and stored.

J&K Govt, in a statement issued in this matter, has stated that, shifting to digital workplace is going to save huge amount of administrative cost for J&K govt. As per tradition, the ‘Darbaar moves between Jammu and Kashmir biannually’. Shifting of manual hard files between Jammu and Kashmir takes around 300 trucks costing substantial amount of money. Now onwards, the manual files need not to be moved as the digital files can be accessed both from Jammu and Kashmir office on secured network through e-Office platform.

Talking about this initiative, Shri Puneet Chawla, Chairman and Managing Director, RailTel said “e-Office can be a perfect solution for creating a paperless office saving substantial amount of administrative costs as well as carbon footprint. This also enables remote working through secure VPN connection which is the need of hour in the post pandemic world. With our experience of implementing e-office for Indian Railways as well as a number of PSUs, we are well placed to extend this service to other Govt organizations.”
