Srinagar, February 8 : Under the influence of and fresh Western Disturbance, rain and snow is expected at most places in Jammu and Kashmir between Thursday and Friday.
Rain/snow may commence from north Kashmir parts from tomorrow morning onwards and by late afternoon most places in Kashmir would have received a spell of rain/snow.
Main intensity will be over parts of north Kashmir.
Main activity will be between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
Improvement in weather is expected from Friday late morning onwards. However, a few places may continue to record rain/snow till evening (maximum possibility for parts of north Kashmir.)
For most places in Kashmir, rain/snow activity will range between moderate and heavy.
There are chances of rain in plains as temperatures may hover around 4°C in some plains.
Snowfall chances will vary from area to area and it is difficult to predict whether any particular area will receive snow.
But here are the chances as per the current forecast:
North Kashmir plains: 40 – 60%
Central Kashmir plains: 30 – 50%
Anantnag and Pulwama: 20 – 40%
Shopian and Kulgam: 40 – 50%
In Jammu region, districts like Reasi, Jammu, Samba, and Kathua may receive only light rainfall. Generally, a moderate spell is expected in other districts.
Due to rain shooting stones and landslides may occur on Jammu-Srinagar National highway, particularly between Nashri and Nanihal stretch, on Thursday and Friday.
