The Centre will extend the ceasefire despite the recent setback due to high profile killings and that of the brutal murder of soldiers.
The elements promoting violence are looking for opportunities to escalate violence and want the Government to declare end of the ceasefire officially.
The informed sources said that the majority view in the Central Government is not to let down the guard and the ceasefire continue at least till Amarnath Yatra is over.
The Yatra starting on June 28!will conclude on August 26
The killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari has no bearing on the decision of the extension of ceasefire or otherwise.
The sources said that the Centre is studying the balance sheet of the violence in terms of statistics of violence and the gains of peace on the ground.
