Jammu, November 13:

The review meeting to add more districts for provision of 4G mobile connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir will now be taken early next year as the security agencies do not recommend it before completion of ongoing District Development Council (DDC) and other ULB and Panchayat polls.

According to sources the security agencies in the interest of maintaining law and order during the polls want the status quo to continue. At present only Udhampur and Ganderbal districts have been allowed 4G mobile services “on trial Basis” which has now been extended up to 26th Nov. 2020 .The Home department order states that in the recent past the targeted killings of “Civilians/Political activists manifest the nefarious designs of terrorists to dissuade the general public from participating in the election process”.

It maintains, “Such unlawful acts heavily rely upon high speed mobile internet connectivity and are required to be thwarted.” The ongoing election process is ending in the last week of December, hence, the review meeting to increase the domain of providing 4G mobile connectivity to other parts of Jammu and Kashmir “cannot happen before early next year.”The 4G services here are suspended since 04th August 2019.
