Stresses on effective Covid prevention measures

Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department Talat Parvez Rohella other day chaired a meeting to review the arrangements put in place at Lakhanpur for smooth regulation of both inbound and outbound travellers while adhering to the testing and other Covid-19 protocols.


At the outset, the Commissioner Secretary, who is Overall Incharge of Check Post Lakhanpur Covid-19, expressed the need to be extra vigilant and prepared as there is a surge in Covid-19 cases across the country. He said there is a forecast of increase in daily arrival of travellers including labourers who are coming back to their workplace after festivals.


It was decided in the meeting that passengers boarding SRTC buses will get the tickets within the bus and not made to wait in a queue which will minimize travellers’ stay time at Lakhanpur. It was also decided that for the safety of passengers a mechanism will be put in place so that all incoming and outgoing buses can de-board the passengers on either sides of the Lakhanpur.


The meeting also took decision to increase the numbers of dustbins and time to time sanitization of the area to maintain high level of cleanliness in the entire Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre.


The other issues including disposal of bio hazardous waste, time to time replacement of deputed teams and installation of awareness hoardings were chiefly discussed in the meeting.


DC Kathua O.P Bhagat, SSP Kathua Shailendra Mishra, DC State Taxes Ranjeet Singh, Overall Incharge Transport Vehicles Arun Kumar Manhas, Principal of government colleges and other concerned Officers were present in the meeting.
