Urged Administration to expedite restoration of utility services in rural areas;

Banihal , March 8 : National Conference (NC) leader and District President, Ramban, Mr Sajjad Shaheen conducted a day long extensive tour to village Pogal, Maligam, Panla, Kunda in Tehsil Ukharhal and took stock of the problems faced by the people after the recent snowfall and heavy wind storm.
During the visit he met scores of people and also interacted with party workers. The locals apprised him about the dilapidated condition of roads, erratic power supply in far-off areas besides lack of health care facilities in their villages.
The people also complained about the scarcity of drinking water in several villages and demanded construction of a bridge at Narad at Maligam Nallah.
Shaheen said the bad condition of Ukharhal-Panchal road, Ukharhal-Maligam road, Pogal -Panla road, Digdole- Bajmasta road,
Nachlana -Khari road Banihal-Mangit road, Chamalwas-Neel road has badly impacted the mobility and added to the miseries of the people living in these remote villages.
Expressing deep concern over power crisis in peripheral areas particularly Khari, Trigam, Mahu-Mangit, Sarachi, Neel, Pogal-Paristan he said that unscheduled power cuts have aggravated woes of people in these villages of Banihal constituency.
Shaheen further said, that massive devastation has been caused to the residential houses, School buildings in the entire Ramban district including Gool due to Windstorm and heavy rainfall in the region adding that the losses faced by the people are massive particularly in Pogal-Paristan, Kunda, Narad, Maligam, Neel, Mahu-Mangit Banihal ,Khari, Kutji, Trigam, Amkote ,Thachi, Hainjhal, Duligam, Tethar , Nowgam,Lamber, Asshar, Kaskut, Krawa, Phagow, chanjlu ,Chaknarwa ,Chamalwas, Sarachi and other areas including the Gool-Sangaldan, Ramban and Batote areas of Ramban district.
Later Shaheen accompanied by party leader and DDC Counselor Pogal, Sh Bashir Ahmed Runyal and other party functionaries went to the residences of all the four persons who recently died in a tragic road accident near Maligam to offer condolences to the bereaved families. Both the leaders extended sympathies and solidarity with the families of the deceased and demanded immediate sanction of ex-gratia relief in favour of the next of kith and kin of those who died in the fatal accident.
Shaheen appealed to the administration to take immediate measures for the mitigation of the losses suffered by the people and depute teams to the affected areas so that the damages caused by the windstorm to residential houses and property could be assessed and financial assistance to the effected people could be provided at an earliest.
Shaheen was accompanied by Zonal V/President Riyaz Ahmed Mir, block presidents Nisar Ahmed Sohil , Shakib ur Rehman Runyal, YNC Prov.V/President Tariq Ahmed Dar, besides Bahar Ahmed Naik, Shamas ud din Draboo, Mujib ur Rehman Runyal and others.
