Conducts extensive tour to remote villages in Ukharhal;

Banihal, March 25 : National Conference (NC) leader and district president, Ramban Mr Sajjad Shaheen has expressed serious concern over the precarious power situation in Banihal and its peripheral areas including Gool during the holy month of Ramadan. He said the electricity woes continue unabated in the region as people are immensely suffering due to unscheduled power cuts particularly during Sehri and Iftaar time.
Shaheen during his day long tour to several remote villages that include Pogal, Panchal, Nowra in Tehsil Ukharhal said that Since the onset of holy month of Ramadan, Banihal and its peripheral areas have been witnessing unusual power cuts causing a strong resentment against the administration who had claimed to provide round the clock supply in the holy month of Ramadan.
He said that every day when the Iftar time is close, suddenly the power supply is shut down. Every house cannot afford power backups like inverters. People have to use artificial light or candles to light up the room. It is very unfortunate that the government could not provide people with uninterrupted power supply even during the Ramadan month.
Shaheen said that the people across the district Ramban are facing extreme shortage of electricity and lack access to clean portable drinking water. The District president also expressed concern over defunct utility services and dilapidated condition of roads, especially in hilly areas, saying these have accumulated the problems of common people.
Shaheen has also sought immediate attention of higher ups into the public suffering and demanded an end to power cuts. He has also urged the J&K administration to ensure adequate supplies of essentials particularly ration, sugar and kerosene oil, LPG Cylinders besides un-interrupted electricity and drinking water during the month of holy Ramadan.
Later Shaheen, along with party functionaries went to the residences of party colleague and block Vice President, Ukharhal Mr Shamas-U-din Draboo to offer condolences to him on the passing away of his mother who died after a brief illness recently. He extended sympathies and solidarity with the family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Shaheen was accompanied by Zonal V/President Riyaz Ahmed Mir, block presidents Nisar Ahmed Sohil , Shakib ur Rehman Runyal, Imtiyaz Ahmed Mughal besides Bahar Ahmed Naik, Mohd. Azam Sohil, Abdul Wahid Lohar, Zahoor Ahmed Lone, Master Abdul Rasheed and others.
