Srinagar , March 03: The Shopian police took a prompt action in taking cognizance of an inflammatory and hate-spreading speech that intended tro cause religious and sectarian strife by registering a case against a cleric Mubarak Ahmad Sheikh also known as Mubarak Qasim of Badapora,, through electronic means .
The cases under sections 292 of 353 ( ii) of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita or BNS have been registered against the cleric who used the online means to cause divisions on the religious and sectarian lines , according to Zainpora police station where an FIR has been registered against him . Accordingly , investigations have begun into the case.
Section 292 of the BNS pertains to punishing those causing public nuisance that harms , inconveniences or endangers the public , while section 353 ( ii) of BNS seeks to prevent making or spreading false information or rumours with the intent to create hatred or ill will between groups of people.
There has been a practice among the mischief mongers to upload mischievous content online to cause division between religious communities and sects to create hatred among the groups . This kind of mischief not only caters to the malicious intent of the content creator – through written or spoken words or visuals – but also reflects on the broader canvas . It serves as a conflict multiplier , making task of the law and order agencies quite difficult
The timely police action will help in nipping this mischief in the bud , and at the same time serve as a meson to the potential mischief makers .
