NOVEMBER 17 : Prof. Tej K Pandita Centre from Genomics and Precision Medicine, Texas A&M College of Medicine, Houston, USA, delivered an invited lecture on Chromatin Modifying Factors in DNA Damage Repair in the School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. The lecture was attended by the faculty, scientists, research scholars and students of SMVDU. Prof. Tej Pandita interacted with the research scholars, faculty and showed a lot of interest in the research work being carried out in the School of Biotechnology, SMVDU. Prof. Pandita’s research is to understand the mechanistic role of chromatin structure in regulating cell survival response to ionizing radiation and chemical-induced DNA damage. Dr. Ratna Chandra, Head, School of Biotechnology, laid emphasis on special lectures which are important in raising the level of science in the University. Prof. Pandita appreciated the efforts of SMVDU administration for establishment for such a vibrant department for research in biosciences. He laid emphasis on international collaboration. Head, SoBT along with other faculty members presented him with a memento and Dr. Rakesh Kumar, PI ICMR-CAR, and coordinator of the event presented the vote of thanks.
