July 20, 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Health & Medical Education Department has ordered a departmental inquiry into the February 3, 2025 incident at Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital, Sopore.
As per Government Order No. 528-JK(HME) of 2026 dated July 3, 2026, Dr. Nighat Yasmeen has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to investigate allegations against three officials—Dr. Anjum Nazir, Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, and theatre technician Shri Ghulam Nabi.
The inquiry will examine treatment records, duty rosters, medical protocols, and other evidence to determine whether any misconduct, negligence, or unauthorized private practice occurred. A report has been directed to be submitted within 15 days, following principles of natural justice.
