Discusses the devastating impact of natural disasters across J&K; calls for comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures
Srinagar, July 22: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar and discussed the hardships faced by people in the wake of the recent and ongoing natural disasters across Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the administration to ensure comprehensive relief, adequate compensation, and long-term rehabilitation for the affected families.
According to statement issued by the party, Syed Mohammad Alataf Bukahri called on Hon’ble LG Shri Manoj Sinha to discuss the tragic situation caused by the widespread flash floods, landslides, and heavy rains across Jammu and Kashmir.
Apni Party president urged him that the administration’s foremost priority must be ensuring immediate relief, adequate compensation, and comprehensive rehabilitation for the affected individuals and families, so that no victim is left behind and they receives timely assistance,” the statement reads.
Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari also thanked the Lieutenant Governor for facilitating the immediate release of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) assistance during the ongoing crisis. He stressed the need to further strengthen relief and rehabilitation measures in view of the extensive destruction and loss of life, particularly in the worst-affected areas of Poonch and Rajouri districts.
He highlighted the severe impact on Surankote, Marhote, Sanglaan, Dara Sangla, Murrah and Loran in Poonch district, as well as Rajouri town, Bela Colony, Darhal, Thanamandi and the localities along the Khandli River belt in Rajouri district.
According to the party statement, Apni Party president also brought to the Lieutenant Governor’s attention the extensive damage to property in Budgam and Srinagar districts. In addition, he raised concerns over severe waterlogging and flood-like conditions in downtown Srinagar, which, he said, had caused huge losses to residents and traders.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha has assured him that the administration was fully engaged in relief operations and was making every effort to provide timely assistance to the affected families.
“LG Sahib assured Apni Party president that the government will ensure all possible relief, compensation and rehabilitation measures for those impacted by this natural calamity,” the statement reads.
