Participants raised public issues, grievances; express concern over continuing developmental deficit

Srinagar, August 14: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today chaired an important meeting with party leaders, senior workers and prominent members from across the Chanapora constituency.
The meeting was held at the party’s head office at Sheikh Bagh in Srinagar.
The meeting focused on receiving feedback on a range of issues, discussing the prevailing political situation, highlighting public concerns, and taking up important party matters.
On the occasion, the participants apprised Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari of several pressing public issues being faced by residents of the constituency.
They said that a developmental deficit continues to persist across various areas of the constituency, leaving many residents without adequate basic facilities.
They also expressed concern over the alleged practice of providing public facilities and undertaking developmental works on the basis of political affiliation.
They said that areas where residents are perceived to support the ruling party are being given preference, while other areas are being neglected.
The participants informed their leader that several areas, including Umar Colony and its adjoining localities, are facing inadequate water supply.
They said that the concerned authorities have failed to pay due attention to their repeated complaints regarding the issue.
They also complained about inadequate power supply and inflated electricity bills, which they said have added to the difficulties faced by residents.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that Chanapora Hospital, which caters to a vast population, continues to lack the required infrastructure, equipment, and professional manpower.
The participants further said that several areas lack proper drainage systems, causing inconvenience to the people, particularly during rains.
Members from Nadergund and adjoining areas also highlighted the lack of basic civic amenities and urged the authorities to address their grievances on a priority basis.
Addressing the occasion, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said that the developmental deficit is not confined to a single constituency but is evident across Srinagar city.
He said that despite the people of Srinagar giving a huge mandate to the ruling party, the government has failed to provide even basic facilities to the residents.
He expressed grave concern over the issues confronting the people of the city.
He said that inadequate housing, lack of livelihood opportunities, rising unemployment, and inadequate public infrastructure are among the major issues facing the people of Srinagar.
He said, the government has completely failed to address any of these pressing concerns.
On this occasion, several political and social activists joined Apni Party. Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and other leaders present on the occasion gave a warm welcome to the new members.
The new entrants included NC worker Abdul Majeed Wani from Rawalpora Bagwanpora,
Younis Mushtaq Sheikh from Mehjoor Nagar, and others.
