Clashes erupts after encounter, internet snapped

Srinagar, January 8:

Security Forces have killed three militants in an encounter at Chadoora area of Budgam district today.

Police sources said that the encounter started in the afternoon and security forces have successfully eliminated all the three militants holed up in the Chadoora area.

 They added that two slain militants have been identified as two foreigners (Pakistani nationals), while one of among was a local from Pulwama district identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir.

Earlier, a joint team of army, SOG and CRPF following a specific information had launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area. As the joint team of forces intensified the searches the hiding militants opened fire triggering off an encounter.

Soon after the encounter, the locals took to streets at Chadoora and its adjoining areas and start pelting stones on forces.

In wake of the encounter, the authorities have blocked internet services in Budgam and Pulwama districts to maintain law and order.
