Three terrorists were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in Kanigam area of Sopore district early Thursday morning.
One of the terrorists involved in encounter, however, responded to surrender calls, accordingly surrendered.


The encounter had started in small hours .
It may be recalled that security forces had killed two terrorists, including a foreigner, in Nathipora area of Sopore. They were involved in the killing of two councillors of Sopore Municipal Council.

A spokesperson of the army said “A joint operation was launched today early morning based on inputs from J&K Police.
Area was cordoned off. Terrorists opened fire & a firefight ensued.
Multiple appeals for surrender were made by the Police and family members of the trapped terrorists.
Restraint was exercised to avoid any collateral damage.

One terrorist surrendered and three terrorists were killed.
All four were recent recruits into terrorism.

Four Pistols recovered.
