Jammu, February 11: After three days of closure of Jammu-Srinagar national highway 44 was partially restored and stranded vehicles were being cleared.

This highway, which is the only road link of Kashmir valley to the rest of the country during the winters, was closed after heavy rain leading to landslides and shooting stones.

Giving details, traffic control room Ramban told JK News Today that landslides and shooting stones have been cleared and in a first stranded vehicles were being cleared. Over a 1000 vehicles had got stranded on the national highway at several places and people were forced to spend the rain days inside vehicles.

“Our priority is to clear the stranded vehicles and then allow vehicles from either side. Once stranded vehicles are cleared, light motor vehicles will be allowed from both the sides,” traffic police officials said.
