Srinagar, August 06:

Traffic was suspended on Friday on Srinagar-Leh national highway in view of weekly maintenance.

A traffic police official told UNI this morning that no vehicle was allowed from Srinagar or Leh today on the highway, the only road connecting Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir.

He said the UTs of Ladakh and J&K have announced that traffic on the highway will remain suspended on every Friday to allow the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to undertake weekly maintenance of the road, particularly at Zojila pass.

Subject to road condition and fair weather traffic will be resumed on Saturday on the highway, he said.

Meanwhile, Srinagar-Jammu national highway, historic 86-km-long Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Poonch and Rajouri and Anantnag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road are open for traffic.
