Two more infiltration attempts have been foiled by the Army in Nowgam sector of Kashmir along the Line of Control.
In the wake of the Uri terror attack and escalation of tensions along the LoC, the Army has stepped up vigil along the Pakistan border.
Meanwhile, a militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kashmir’s Bandipora district today morning.
“One militant has been killed in the gunfight in Bandipora,” an army official confirmed.
Police said security forces surrounded Aragam Chitti Bandi village following information about some holed-up militants.
As the forces were conducting the search operation, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter, an Army official said.
Firing was going on at the encounter site when last reports came in, the official said, adding more details about the operation were awaited.
