University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently released a notice on its official website regarding the resumption of classes for all the affiliated colleges and universities. According to the notice, the classes for odd semesters will most likely start from November 18.

The commission had also informed all the affiliated universities earlier that the classes for all the students for the academic session 2020-2021 will most likely start in November. The institutes also have to complete the admission process for this session by October 31.

It has been instructed by UGC that all universities must start their classes from November 1 if the admission process is complete by October 30. If there is a delay in the admission process, colleges can start the classes from November 18.

According to the notice released by UGC, the universities have to conduct classes for 6 days in one week this semester to make up for the academic loss due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Blended mode of teaching

The classes for all the universities affiliated with UGC are most likely supposed to start by November 18, but due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the classes will be conducted in a blended mode for this semester.

The universities will have the liberty to conduct the classes in online or offline mode, as per the convenience of the students and teachers. Universities will also have to refund the full fees in case of the cancellation of admission.

UGC has also instructed that the merit-based admissions in all affiliated colleges must be complete by October 31, so that there is no further loss of the academic year for the students as well as the faculty.

University and colleges across the country have been closed since March due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and online classes and exams are being conducted to reduce the risk of infection.
