UPSC prelims 2020: UPSC has postponed the civil services preliminary exam. The new exam date will be announced on May 20.

UPSC has postponed the civil services exam (prelims) 2020. The new exam date will be announced on May 20. The Civil Services prelims exam was scheduled to be held on May 31 and the admit cards were supposed to be released this week.

“The Civil Services (Prel.) Examination-2020, scheduled to be held on 31/05/2020, stands deferred. Decision on fresh date of the Examination will be made available on 20/05/2020 after assessing the situation,” the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) said today.

This year, the Civil Services exam was scheduled to begin earlier in comparison to the last 4-5 years.

Civil services aspirants had requested to postpone the prelims exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown situation in the country.

In last week of April, Union Minister Jitendra Singh had assured candidates that the exam will be rescheduled and candidates will be given sufficient time so that they do not face any inconvenience in travelling to their exam centres.

As per the latest update given by the UPSC, the new date will be announced on May 20.

Apart from the Civil Services 2020 prelims exam, UPSC will conduct Engineering services main exam, Geologist services main exam.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is also likely to give an update on upcoming and pending exams soon, which includes Junior Engineer (Paper-I) Examination, 2019, Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination, 2019 and Skill Test for Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination, 2018.
