Jammu, February 26:

The United States has hailed the India-Pakistan military agreement on strict observance of a ceasefire along the Line of Control , and termed it as a positive step toward greater peace and stability in South Asia.

The US reaction came in a response to a question at the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s press briefing on Thursday hours after a joint statement disclosed that the Director General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan had “ agreed for strict observance of all agreements, understandings and cease firing along the Line of Control and all other sectors ( International border) with effect from 24/25 February 2021”
This statement has generated a positive atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir where almost daily ceasefire violation and exchange of firing had created havoc in the border areas, and both – India and Pakistan- had lost soldiers, civilians and property in these clashes.

Internationally , too, the step has been welcomed .
While the White House welcomed the reiteration of the ceasefire agreement , it did not specifically answer a question, whether Pakistan is doing enough in the fight against terrorism , Psaki did not answer it in specific terms , but he added: “ Well, of course we remain closely engaged with a range of leaders and officials in the region, including those in Pakistan .”
