Apni Party leaders pay obeisance at Nanga Baji Sahib’s dargah in Bandipora

Srinagar, August 8: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said on Thursday that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are eagerly awaiting their right to elect their own representatives through the democratic process. He added that everyone is expecting an announcement regarding assembly elections by the Election Commission of India (ECI), which is currently on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to the media persons in Bandipora, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said that Jammu and Kashmir people are eagerly waiting for the elections. He said, “For the past 10 years, the people of J&K have been awaiting their right to elect their representatives. We expect that the ECI team, which is currently visiting J&K, will make an announcement regarding the holding of assembly elections.”
Replying to a question regarding the quitting of a party leader and some workers from Bandipora, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “We wish them good luck. People joining or leaving political parties is not unusual. I believe that all of us essentially want to serve the people. There is nothing wrong if someone with the same purpose changes their platform.”
The Apni Party president made these statements today after he, along with his senior party colleagues, paid obeisance at the dargah of Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah, widely known as Nanga Baji Sahib, in the Malangam area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora. Pertinently, the annual Urs days at the dargah are currently ongoing, and devotees are thronging the revered place these days.
Besides Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari the prominent party leaders who paid their obeisance at Nanga Baji Sahib’s revered dargha, included party’s Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir, Chief Spokesperson Muntazir Mohiuddin, Senior Leader and former Legislator Yawar Dilawar Mir, District President Kupwara Raja Manzoor, District President Bandipora Shafat Kazmi, party incharge for the Sonawari Constituency Imtiyaz Parray, Senior Leader Noor Mohammad Bhat, and party’s Provincial Secretary, Najeeb Naqvi.
