New Delhi , January 31 : In her maiden address to the joint session of the Parliament on Tuesday , President Droupadi Murmu said that her government has shown decisiveness in all matters , and made a special mention of the August 5, 2019 abrogation of Article 370 , which eliminated special status and privileges of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, and brought it on par with the rest of the country. There is a wider message than mere reiteration of the step that was taken more than 41 months ago. The message is that it is irreversible and terror wold not be allowed to have its footprints on the soil of J&K , and on the borders.
“ From the surgical strikes to the tough crackdown on terrorism, from the LoC to the LAC, from the abrogation of Article 370 to the triple talaq, my government has been recognised as a decisive government,” President Murmu said.
It is worthwhile to mention that President Murmu spoke of the decision of the abrogation of Article 370 of August 5, 2019 , more than 41 months in. her address to the joint session of the parliament . This reiteration of the abrogation of Article 370 as an unmistakable sign of the decisiveness of the Narendra Modi government , has come at a time when there is a fresh debate on the abrogation of the constitutional provision. It is not just the internal dimension that has been addressed , to bring the whole of the country under one flag and one constitution – prior to August 5, 2019, J&K had its own constitution and flag- but also the external dimension . There is a message for Pakistan that all its clamour and shout that India should revoke the August, 2019, decisions will have no bearing . These protestations are inconsequential .
