Without mentioning the contribution of JK Women Police personnel any discussion about the Jammu and Kashmir Police is incomplete. This was stated by the Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh at a function organised by IRP 15th Battalion to celebrate the International Women’s Day and to felicitate women officers and officials for their contribution to the department and society at Police Auditorium Gulshan Ground today.

Jammu Ms Rashmi Wazir, Dy CO IRP 15th Bn Ms Madhu Bandral, ASP Security Jammu Ms Shaheen Wahid, Dr Nazia Rasool Latifi, Women officers and jawans of different wings and units attended the function.

In his address the DGP congratulated all the women on the occasion of International women’s Day. He said that J&K Police is celebrating all Women Police personnel on this day who are very important part of our organization. It is a matter of pride and happiness that speaking on any forum or platform about J&K Police is incomplete without remembering the contribution of JK Women Police, the DGP said. He said that there are so many tales of professionalism, dedication and valour of JK women police personnel from the day they joined the force.

The DGP said that women officers & officials who are working in different capacities in J&K Police be it in offices or general duties have earned a special reputation by the dent of their hardwork.The JK Police women personnel play a very important role in counter insurgency operations, he added. He said that the universe cannot be imagined without the existence of women and their contribution. He said that gone are the days when women had limitations for achieving their dreams. He said that the time has changed a lot for good and women have achieved so much in different fields that they are the identity for their families. He said that much more changes are needed in the society to respect womanhood. Today’s woman is not weak and can’t be ignored in any field, he added.

The DGP appreciated Commandant IRP 15th Bn. Mubassir Latiefi and his team for organizing the event on International Women’s Day especially celebrating J&K Women Police’s contribution on the occasion.

Speaking to the media the DGP said that in 90’s when special operation groups were formed JK women police officers and jawans voluntarily participated shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts for the peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the role of women police personnel working at different wings and units cannot be ignored for the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in J&K. He said that J&K Police is proud of its brave and professional women officers and jawans. He informed the media that recruitment in J&K Police for the 02 battalions each for Women and Border will be completed soon.

In his welcome address Commandant IRP 15th Bn Mubassir Latifi expressed gratitude to the DGP J&K for his presence in celebrating International Women’s Day as also celebrating the role of Women Police of J&K Police. He said it is for the first time that the DGP is attending such a function to celebrate and appreciate its women force and the act would be remembered for a long time, he added. He gave a detailed description of the working of IRP 15th Bn and saluted the spirit of all women police forces who are rendering their services to the society besides looking after their families.

The DGP presented mementos and certificates to the six women police officers and Jawans of IRP 15th battalion who have played exceptional role in different fields and society. Those who were felicitated include Inspector Neena Chib, Head Constable Pushpa Choudhary, HC Shenaz Bano, HC Sunita Devi,HC Sushma Devi and SgCt Renu Bala.

Earlier a short movie titled Women Warriors of J&K Police was screened.

During the day long function debate on the topic “Place and happiness in the family is only because of women” was organised in which police personnel SgCt Mosami, Ct Pawan Kumar, Ct Meenakshi Devi SgCt Pawan Nazar, Sg Ct Pooja Devi Ct Babli Devi, Ct Ekta Devi and Follower Tanya Khan participated and various cultural items were also presented.
