Scores of students from Women’s College from Government College for women MA Road Srinagar on Saturday staged a protest demonstration, demanding waiving off of sesmter fee.

Students of third semester assembled at Press Enclave here and raised pro-justice slogans.

“Our parents are not able to pay expenses of pour college and examination fee as of right now. But college authorities are forcing us to pay it,” protesting students said.

They added that most of the students belong to poor families. “Our parents are labourers, private employees or small businessmen. Their work and source of livelihood have been adversely affected for past one year due to post 5 2019 lockdown and later COVID19 lockdown,” they added.

The protesting students said that their parents have not earned even a single penny for past one year and government must announce waiving off the college fee forthwith.

They said in the current pandemic situation, instead of giving relief, the authorities have furthered the fear by issuing directives demanding fee from students

“We appeal LG to personally intervene and get the semester fee waived off,” they said
