Bhaderwah October 31 : Bhadarwah Campus, University of Jammu in
collaboration with the Indian Army based at Bhadarwah is organizing five
days Youth Festival “SANGAM 2022”, which commenced at Bhadarwah Campus this morning.


The SANGAM 2022, with the tagline‘ Communal Harmony – National
Integration’ was inaugurated by Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, YSM, VSM,
Corps Commander, 16 Corps in presence of Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof.
Rahul Gupta, Maj Gen Ajay Kumar, GOC, CIF (D) CO RR, ADC Bhaderwah
Dil Mir Choudhary , SDPO Mir Gafoor , Convener Sangam Dr Jatinder
Manhas, teaching facility, non-teaching of Bhaderwah Campus besides
a large number of Civil and Military dignitaries, of the Civil
Administration, Police Department, CRPF, Prominent Citizens of
Bhadarwah, Principals and Teachers Of Colleges/ Schools were also
present on occasion.

The Mega event will witness the participation of more than 1200 students
and teachers from 34 Colleges including Bhadarwah Campus, University
of Jammu.

Students showcased their skills in dancing and singing on the day of
opening Ceremony of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, YSM, VSM, Corps
Commander, 16 Corps congratulated the Army and Bhadarwah Campus for
organising this colourful bonanza. “The cultural programme presented
by the students depicted mutual harmony and brotherhood which is an
an integral part of the culture of the Chenab region,” he said adding that
the people of this region especially the youth should rise above the
communal politics and secure a bright future for themselves and for
this region.
“Youth festival is an appropriate platform to showcase talent. We hope
the festival is successful and every year we can increase the stature
and scale of the programme. The university has put in all efforts to
make the programme successful,” he added.
Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof. Rahul Gupta in his welcome address
congratulated the youth of Chenab Valley for embarrassing education
and knowledge leading to self-development and enriching society.

He said that Bhaderwah Campus since its inception in 2006, has seen
tremendous growth over the years. The campus was established with the
objective to bring higher education to the doorsteps of the
disadvantaged and hitherto excluded section of the society living in
the remote hilly area of the region. Bhaderwah Campus has five academic
departments including the Business school, Department of Computer
Application and IT, English, Education, Geography besides a research
Institute, Institute of Mountain Environment with three departments,
catering to the research and academic needs of nearly 400 students each
year.

He further added that the overwhelming response to Sangam 2022, which
is being held after COVID, has compelled us to put a cap on the number
of participants this time due to logistical constraints. Close to 1200
participants, including the support staff from 32 colleges will take
part in 24 events, involving 12 cultural and athletic events, each.

A total of forty different competitions viz Debate, Sketching, Clay
Modelling, Photography, Athletics, Chess, Badminton for girls, Quiz,
Painting, Marathon, Volleyball, Kabaddi and Cricket etc will be
conducted during the five days of Youth Festival. Several educational
and motivational lectures will be also delivered by various
dignitaries including Rector, Bhadarwah Campus, University of Jammu.
