SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 19: Ghazi Ghulam Nabi Kashmiri, well known poet and writer, and Girija Dhar, social activist, had separate meetings with Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Kashmiri shared with the Governor his views about the obtaining situation in the Valley and appealed to the latter to take up people’s concerns with the Central Government and take decisive steps for restoring peace and normalcy in the State.
Kashmiri also presented to the Governor his poem titled “Jhelum Key Naam Sey Zamaana Jisko Jaanata Hai” which describes the flood fury of Jhelum river in 2014 and asks for justice from the leaders of the Nation.
Dhar discussed with the Governor the sufferings and trauma faced by women due to the unrest in the Valley and suggested certain initiatives to ameliorate the lot of the affected families. The Governor urged Dr. Dhar to commence appropriate action in this regard and assured her of strong support.
The Governor stressed the crucial importance of peace being urgently restored in the State and urged Kashmiri and Dhar to sustain their endeavours in this regard.
