Jammu, November 11:
The results of Bihar polls have written yet another saga of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity among masses in the country as the National Democratic Alliance has returned to power with BJP contributing more than 60 per cent of seats to its tally of 125. These seats can be straightway counted as a vote for the party, but in other seats where the NDA has won , the saffron party’s imprint is too visible to be missed.
It is all because of the development and human-resources-enriching ways of the Modi Government across the country . These have a special meaning for J&K, where people had been hasping for development but were fed with political slogans , which neither empowered them no brought any development . Instead , they were left in lurch.
Bihar Polls had two stories to tell. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of Janta Dal- United – could not carry the day on his own or on the basis of his party as the anti-incumbency factor of his rule was too heavy that it weighed down the overall performance of the NDA in the polls. The JD-U contested 115 seats but could manage to win 43 seats only that too because of Modi’s campaign . The BJP won 74 out of 110 seats it contested.
This makes things clearer, as it is also a moment to reflect as to what would have happened had Modi not campaigned? He campaigned for the whole of NDA , not just the BJP , and his campaign added many votes that enabled the JDU to win some of the seats – a detailed analysis would show where it mattered the most .
Modi’s oratory and connect with the people played a very crucial role . The response that audience gave to him in his rallies underlined several parameters of politics of the country .
PM’s words were connected to the work that he had done for all walks of life – helping farmers , migrants , house wives and the poor with the centrally sponsored schemes . It cannot be imagined that how much providing of a gas cylinder to the poor households and the toilet in homes made a difference to the social life of the poor, especially women. It was conferring of dignity that they had been aspiring for ages.
In J&K, where the District Development Council polls are being held for the first time in its electoral history , raising yet another pillar of the grassroots democracy that until recently was not even in the dreams of the people , because their dream line was diverted to political slogans only. The slogans of autonomy , self-rule were to build illusions and to escape from the accountability and responsibility from governance ..
What has happened in Bihar will have its positive impact in J&K , where the abrogation of Article 370 paved way for the arrival of the grassroots democracy with full blast . It is bound to change the thinking of the people who aspire for basic needs. Now they have come to know that empowerment comes through development only. That is what the Home Minister Amit Shah has introduced in J&K under the vision unfolded by Prime Minister .The constitution of the DDCs in a democratic fashion will make all the difference to J&K and its people.
